RCMP Report for February 24 to March 2, 2015

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for February 24 to March 2, 2015 

RCMP received a report of someone attempting to gain access to a vehicle without success. The complainant reported the mischief for information purposes.

There was a two-vehicle collision in Denzil, Saskatchewan, as well as a two-vehicle collision in Unity. There were no injuries and no charges were laid in either incident.

Police received a report of a vehicle hitting the ditch by Unity. The driver reported it for insurance purposes.

An individual reported receiving an email requesting money. The information was sent to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Residents are reminded not to respond to this type of email.

There were also two false alarms and one traffic complaint.

Police looking for stolen quad and trailer

On March 8, 2015, shortly after 8:00 p.m., the Unity RCMP were called to a theft that had just occurred in a rural area near Scott, Saskatchewan. A trailer along with a quad were reported stolen.

The quad is described as a 2011 Arctic Cat Mud Pro 1000 with green fenders in the front and black fenders in the back.  The quad had 30-inch Gorilla Silverback tires on it as well as a 64-inch yellow snow blade with a broken hook. A light bar was mounted on the front rack.

The trailer is described as a black 2001 Trailtech two-place snowmobile trailer. The trailer had a Saskatchewan license plate marker of 171 HMP. The trailer had a spare tire mounted on the front as well as broken plywood in the front right hand corner. The rims were white and rusty and there was a slide-in ramp underneath.

RCMP received a report of a shed fire at a residence.  The fire was not suspicious in nature.

A Member located an abandoned snowmobile on Highway 21 north of Unity, SK.  This owner was contacted and recovered the snowmobile which had came unclamped from a snowmobile trailer and bounced off.

There was a two vehicle collision over near Winter, Saskatchewan.   This matter is still under investigation.

Police are assisting a British Columbia RCMP with a fraud investigation.

Three youth from Poundmaker First Nations, two aged 17 and one 13 years of age, were each charged with two counts of theft Under $5,000 from a motor vehicle after police received reports of items stolen from several vehicles in Unity. Police also received a complaint of a truck stolen from Unity that was recovered by Cut Knife RCMP.  Two of the same youth were charged with theft of the truck.

There was a report of a lost set of keys.

RCMP received a report of an individual ringing a doorbell and leaving.  Suspect was identified as he is on a peace bond stating he is to have no contact with the subject of complaint and was charged with two counts of breach of recognizance.  Members were called back to the same residence that evening and added two more counts of breach of recognizance and a mischief charge.

There were also three false alarms, one false 911 call and one abandoned vehicle.

RCMP received a report of disturbing the peace.  This matter was reported for information purposes.

Police received a complaint of a hit and run on a vehicle in Unity.  This matter is still under investigation.

There was a single vehicle rollover near Senlac, Saskatchewan.  There were no injuries and no charges were laid.

RCMP are investigating the well-being of an animal in Scott.

A Member spoke to an individual regarding a mental health issue.

There was also one false alarm and two traffic complaints.

RCMP received a complaint of uttering threats. Members spoke with complainant and referred the matter to Child and Family Services. No charges at this time.

Police attended a vehicle collision between two semis on Highway 21 south of Unity. The two vehicle drivers and one vehicle passenger sustained minor injuries. The matter is still under investigation.

There was a complaint of disturbing the peace at a liquor establishment.  This matter is still under investigation.

Members are investigating the report of an assault.

There was also one false alarm and one traffic complaint.

RCMP received a report of fraud in the form of a phone call asking for money and in return the individual will receive a vehicle and a cash prize. No money or information was provided to the caller. Residents are encouraged not to respond to this type of phone call.

Members received a request from a Saskatchewan Provincial Court Judge to provide courtroom security during a civil court case.

Police received a report of doors left partially open on a vehicle. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle and no damage was done to the vehicle.

There was a report of damage done to a vehicle that was parked on the street. There are no suspects at this time.

RCMP received a complaint of a vehicle hitting a residence garage. The collision was due to icy road conditions. No charges were laid.

Police received a complaint of uttering threats on a social media website. This matter is still under investigation.

The theft of fuel from a gas station was reported. The subject of complaint was located. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a request to locate an individual. Individual was located safe.

A 55-year-old Unity male was charged with driving while prohibited and was also issued a liquor ticket during a traffic stop.

UNITY SK REPORTS for January 20 to 26, 2015

RCMP received two mental health complaints this week. Both subjects of complaint were located by police and were safe.

Police received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle. Members located the registered owner and requested the vehicle be moved.

There were three separate complaints of disturbing the peace this week but all the complainants declined to lay charges.

There was a complaint of fraud as an individual called the complainant and requested she send money and, in return, she would win three million dollars. No money or information was given. Residents are asked not to respond to this type of phone call.

RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in front of Denzil grocery store. There was no criminal activity in the area but it was reported for information purposes.

Police received a complaint of harassing phone calls but the complainant declined to lay charges.

A member acted as a mediator in a family disagreement.

There was a sudden death of a 47-year-old male in Unity. The death was not suspicious in nature.

A member acted as a mediator in a child custody issue.

RCMP received a complaint of harassment on a social media website. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a call about an individual with a mental health issue. Reported for information purposes. No police action necessary.

A vehicle was involved in a hit and run in the Unity Composite High School parking lot. This matter was reported for insurance purposes.

Members executed a Mental Health Services Act warrant by transporting an individual to North Battleford Union Hospital for assessment.

Police received a complaint of a male kicking a vehicle and shining a flashlight in the vehicle window. The complainant declined to lay charges but reported it for information purposes.

RCMP received a complaint of mischief at the Denzil Hotel. This matter is still under investigation.

There was also one vehicle collision with a deer.

A cellphone was located by an individual. RCMP confirmed the owner was contacted and the phone was returned to the owner.

RCMP received a report of a traffic collision with a stopped train on Cemetery Road by Unity, Saskatchewan. The collision was caused by icy road conditions. No charges were laid.

Police received a complaint of a break and enter at a residence but it was unfounded.

There was a report of a suspicious person by the fibre optic box near the train track on Vera Road. Members patrolled but the individual was gone on arrival. CP Police did not report any damage to equipment.

RCMP received a request to locate an individual. Individual was located safe and unharmed.

RCMP received a report of harassing hang-up phone calls in Denzil. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a report of a lost wallet. It has not been located.

Police received a complaint of harassing text messages. Members spoke to the subject of complaint. No charges.

RCMP issued a 72-hour driving suspension to an individual during a traffic stop when he blew a warning after policer requested a breath sample.

Members charged a 20-year-old Unity male with failing to comply with a probation order when they initiated a curfew check and he was not at home during curfew.

Police charged a 23-year-old Unity male with failing to comply with an undertaking when they discovered him in Senlac Bar consuming alcohol, knowing he was on conditions to abstain from alcohol and not to be in an establishment that sells alcohol.

RCMP charged a 21-year-old Flaxcombe male with failing to comply with an undertaking after members initiated a traffic stop in Denzil and discovered he had been drinking and was on conditions to abstain from alcohol. He blew a warning when members requested a breath sample so a 60-day driving suspension was also issued.

A red 2005 Ford F-150 was stolen in Unity after the vehicle owner started it in the early morning hours to let it warm up. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a report of fraud. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a report of a hit-and-run on a vehicle. It was reported for insurance purposes.

Police received a complaint of a missing person. Members located the individual and Unity ambulance transferred her to North Battleford Hospital for assessment.

An individual received a phone call stating she won a significant amount of money through New York Clearing House and could claim it if she sent money to another individual. No money was given. Residents are urged not to respond to this type of phone call.

There were three reports of a railway crossing malfunction which were dealt with by CN Police.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace at the hotel in Denzil SK. The matter is still under investigation.

There were also three false alarms, one false 911 call, one traffic complaint and one collision with a deer.
