Another provincial title for a Unity Panthers ball team! Read all about it in the July 20th issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald! In Monday’s paper, you will also find:

  • Photos of the RCMP Musical Ride, hosted at Wilkie SK and attended by people from far and wide;
  • some details on the latest research being done at Scott Research Farm;

Come Monday and the July 13th issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald and we will be almost halfway through July already! Get out when you can and enjoy the summer!

The pages of next week’s paper will tell you:

  • who the first ball teams are to bring provincial titles back home to Unity;
  • what local farmers are saying about this year’s hay crop;
  • about the last Cardinals/Brewers game of the regular NSRBL season; and
  • what kind of insects were captured in the Malaise trap at St. Peter’s School earlier this spring.

School is done, the Grade 12 have graduated and summer is here. Stay up to date with local happenings by checking out this week’s Unity Wilkie Press-Herald for:

  • who won what scholarships at both UCHS and Luseland;
  • police suggestions on preventing thefts;
  • a selection of photos from Unity’s Canada Day celebrations (between storms and rain); and
  • photos from the Parkview Place fashion show held at the end of May.

You definitely need a copy of next weeks paper, the June 22nd issue of the Unity-Wilkie Press-Herald. Find out whose kids are graduating and how grown up they all look! Yes, it’s our annual Grad issue!

Along with all the grads, you will find plenty more to read and see, including:

  • coverage of the official grand opening of the Unity Credit Union Aquatic Centre last week;

There were plenty of events to cover in Unity over the week and so it’s another full issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald. Look for:

  • photos and a write-up from the French Legion of Honour ceremony for Bill Fleming;
  • an interview with retiring Unity Baptist Church pastor, and faithful Faith Matters contributor, Bruce Moir;
  • photos and award winners from the UCHS awards night; and
  • provincial track results for UCHS, McLurg High School and Luseland School.

Bruce Moir’s final Faith Matters column, the police report and a NSRBL report also are provided for our readers.

Well into June and heading towards summer holidays! Lots happening in Unity and area (including the grand opening of the Unity Credit Union Aquatic Centre) so be sure to check out the calendar and pick up the June 8th Unity Wilkie Press-Herald for all the details!

Next week’s paper

The June 1st (JUNE! oh my!) issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald will feature plenty of Unity Western Days coverage, including:

  • congratulations to and a list of achievements and contributions by Ken Parker, Unity’s 2015 Citizen of the Year;
  • Western Days parade photos and results; and
  • a general Western Days wrap-up report with rodeo photos.

The only thing missing will be the results and photos of the Celebrity “Bull” Riding, which will be in the June 8th issue.

Not only Western Days coverage of course! Also in the paper are more serious matters such as details on the Town of Unity 2015 budget, passed earlier this week at a council meeting, and the RCMP report. Along with some baseball on the sports page and many new events being advertised, subscribers will find a wealth of entertainment and information in next week’s Press-Herald.

More specifically, check out:

  • the story and photos on the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day held at Unity SK May 20 for Grade 4 and 5 students;
  • a story and photos on celebrating a 100th birthday;
  • the story and photos about a UCHS student playing football at Mosiac Stadium; and
  • details on Luseland needing and starting to fundraise to replace their swimming pool and arena.

Our page layout people did a fabulous job of creating a Western look for the May 18th issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald, all in honour of this week’s Unity Western Days. As for content, you will find:

  • an introduction to the five girls running for rodeo queen;
  • a list of the locals brave enough to throw their hats in the ring for Celebrity “Bull” Riding;
  • photos from and a write-up on  the Unity Sports Wall of Fame induction ceremonies May 9; and
  • results from the UCHS junior high track meet.

Add in the editorial page, a Western Days Top 10, judges’ comments on the Press-Herald from the Saskatchewan newspapers’ awards night and the RCMP report and everyone should find something of interest in their local community newspaper!
