Small but mighty – that’s the February 24th issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald! Check it out for:

  • all the details on population changes in area towns, villages and RMs;
  • an explanation of new equipment being used by the RCMP;
  • details on the return of Unity Little Theatre (performances to be March 31 and April 1); and
  • all the latest hockey playoff reports.

There are details on the upcoming events for the Unity Skating Club and more square dancing history too!

Below, Saskatchewan’s Alanna Liu, who finished 13th at the Canadian championships, will be one of the guest skaters at the Skate Saskatchewan event, March 8 at the Unity arena, hosted by the Unity Skating club.

You don’t want to miss the February 10th issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald. There is a little bit of everything in it. Check it out for the two pages of babies alone, to say nothing of:

  • photos and an article about the new wastewater system, now operational, at Unity SK;
  • a short history of the Unity Legion Ladies Auxiliary, who sadly are disbanding as the numbers have shrunk down to five members;
  • an interview with Light of Christ Catholic School Board trustee Gerald Beres; and
  • award winner names and photos from the Unity Wildlife Federation’s annual wildlife dinner.

Of course, there are also updates on hockey, curling and an RCMP too.

You don’t want to miss the January 13th issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald. It’s the annual tribute to Minor Hockey and you can check out all the boys and girls playing hockey in Unity and Wilkie, Saskatchewan. How many names and/or faces do you recognize?

Of course, we still have all the regular features such as the latest RCMP report, our editorial page, Blast from the Past, the SWHL report and so on. Also featured this week are:

  • a story about the Unite for a Miracle campaign which was kicked off this week with a fundraising barbecue and a talk at UCHS – attended by all 3 Unity schools – from Telemiracle 41 Chair Darcy Wildeman;
  • Living Sky and Light of Christ school divisions hold a joint press conference;
  • Gerry Ritz speaks out on drywall duties; and
  • Duelling Pianos, to be the entertainment at Celebrate Unity 2017 in March.

Speaking of Celebrate Unity 2017, remember that anyone may nominate a business, group or individual who’s gone above and beyond in service, whether to the public at large, the community or their pet project. Just email helena@helenalong.com with your nomination before February 6.

Now that everyone is starting to get used to Friday distribution of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald, we’re going to mix it up a bit and give you this week’s paper a day early! That’s because Christmas is on a Sunday so all staff are taking Friday off in lieu!

In the December 22nd issue, you will find:

  • details on a house fire in Wilkie, that has displaced a family just 10 days before Christmas;
  • an introduction to Unity’s new recreation director;
  • the final installment of Cancer Diary; and
  • photos and a description of Unity’s Carol Festival.

Of course, yes, you will also find the usual fare of hockey reports, an RCMP report and our editorial page, along with – this week only – a Christmas message from Premier Brad Wall.

Yes, it’s Christmas time at the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald office! You will want to get a copy of the November 25th Unity Wilkie Press-Herald even if for no reason other than the list of Winter Wonderland activities on the back page. Yes, it is already Winter Wonderland time, coming up next week Thursday, December 1. Different events/activities start at different times although 9 pm is the latest anything goes.

Of course, there is lots of other information in your local community newspaper too! Check it out Friday for:

  • details on how Unity compares to other communities with respect to commercial property taxes;
  • a story on a neighbouring community that conducted a survey by drone;
  • a report on the Lazer Midget AA, complete with photos; and
  • some provincial news for hunters, including info about a new mapping tool for your smartphone.

Along with the RCMP report, editorial page, Blast From the Past, etc.
