The trucks, quads, floats, horses and motocross bikes were out in full force again for the 2019 Western Days parade June 1. Spectators were sprinkled along the streets throughout the downtown parade route and, of course, children went home delighted with the candy they collected! More photos in the June 7th Press-Herald newspaper, including the winner of Best Service Club float and the 2019 Citizens of the Year.
Wade Rutherford’s scale recreation of the salt plant garnered Compass Minerals the Best Commercial Float award.
The always awesome Unity Knights of Columbus turtle & Santa Maria ship, winning Best Non-Commercial Float.

Ending the season in seventh place in their division, the Unity Midget AA Lazers are pushing hard to knock off the Warman Wildcats in the first round of playoffs in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League. They won the first two games 6-4 and 1-0 but lost 4-1 in Warman February 21. They have a chance to win the five-game series at home Saturday, Feb. 23 – game time 8 pm.
