RCMP Reports for October 3 to 9

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for October 3 to 9, 2017

RCMP received a complaint of an adult male attempting to lure a youth into a black truck. The truck drove away after the youth ignored the request. Members patrolled but could not locate the suspect vehicle.

Police received a complaint of a stolen truck but it was unfounded.

A 46-year-old female from Unity, Saskatchewan, was charged with identity fraud and obstructing a police officer when she gave false identification during a traffic stop. The woman was also issued a traffic ticket.

Police attended a two vehicle collision in Unity. There were no injuries.

There were also two false 911 calls and one traffic complaint.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for September 26 to October 2, 2017

RCMP received a complaint of fraud. There are no suspects at this time.

Members assisted schools in the Detachment area with practice lockdown procedures.

Police received a complaint of disturbing the peace. Members spoke to the subject of complaint and issued a verbal warning.

RCMP were called to a vehicle fire. Members discovered the vehicle had been stolen. Battlefords RCMP are investigating the theft of the vehicle as it occurred in their Detachment area.

Police received a complaint of damage to a residence fence. There are no suspects at this time.

Members are investigating a complaint of assault.

There was also one false 911 call.

RCMP received a complaint of trespassing. There are no suspects at this time.

Police received a complaint of theft of fuel from a local gas station. This matter is still under investigation.

Members received a complaint of a barking dog. This matter was referred to the bylaw officer.

RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision near Senlac,Sask. There were no injuries. A traffic ticket was issued to the vehicle driver.

Members provided traffic control after a single vehicle rollover caused Highway 21 to become covered in canola. There were no injuries and no charges were laid.

Police are investigating a break and enter at Our Drug Store in Unity.

RCMP received a report of a vehicle collision with a deer. There were no injuries.

There were also two traffic complaints and one false alarm.

UNITY SK RCMP Reports for September 12 to 18, 2017

RCMP received a complaint of assault but the complainant declined to lay charges.

Member completed a well-being check at the request of a family member.

Police received a report of assault. Reported for information purposes.

RCMP received a complaint of theft. This matter is still under investigation.

Police are investigating a break-and-enter into two holiday trailers in Senlac, Saskatchewan.

CN Police reported a railway crossing malfunction near Winter, Sask.

CN Police reported damage to a railway crossing arm in Unity. There are no suspects at this time.

RCMP received a complaint of 25 to 30 cows on Highway 14 west of Unity. Members assisted with traffic control while the owner of the animals herded them back into a pasture.

Members received a Mental Health Act complaint. The subject of complaint was left in the care of family.

Unity RCMP arrested a 19-year-old male for breaching his undertaking by having contact with a female he was accused of assaulting previously. The male was taken before a judge and released for court in October.

There were also three traffic complaints, one false 911 call and one false alarm.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for September 5 to 11, 2017

RCMP Members received a request from Saskatoon Prosecutions Office to serve a subpoena to an individual in the Unity Detachment area.

Police received a complaint of trespassing but it was unfounded.

Members attended a single vehicle collision. There were no injuries and no charges were laid.

There was a complaint of animal neglect. Members could not see evidence of animals in the residence of the subject of complaint.

RCMP received a report of a lost purse. The purse was located and returned to owner.

Members attended a vehicle fire on Highway 14 near Unity. There were no injuries and the fire was not suspicious in nature.

Police received a report of a combine fire. The fire was not suspicious in nature.

There was a complaint of damage at an abandoned farmyard. There are no suspects at this time. Reported for information purposes.

RCMP received a complaint of a stolen truck in Senlac, Sask. This matter is still under investigation.

Members are investigating a break and enter at Suffern Lake Store.

There was a report of a lost wallet. The complainant later called back to state the wallet had been located.

Police received a Mental Health Act complaint. The subject of complaint was located and transported to Battlefords Union Hospital for assessment.

RCMP received a complaint of damage to post office boxes at Unity Post Office. The incident took place sometime overnight between September 10 and 11. Several mailboxes in the Canada Post Office in Unity were pried open. Various mail items were torn open and it is unknown if other items were taken. In addition, it was reported August 17 that several parcel items had been taken from the after hours parcel boxes. Suspects were gaining access to the boxes and removing parcels. As a result of these incidents, the Unity Post office has had to lock their doors to the public after hours to prevent further thefts. The RCMP would like to urge anyone with information on these or other incidents to contact the local detachment. There are no suspects at this time, and the matter remains under investigation.

RCMP were called to a disturbance. The subject of the complaint was located and spoken to. No charges were laid.

There was also one false 911 call.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for August 29 to September 4, 2017

RCMP received a Liquor Act complaint. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a complaint of theft. Members spoke to the subject of complaint. No charges were laid.

There was a complaint of fraud but it was unfounded.

Members received a report of an individual shining a light in a residence backyard. The complainant later discovered it was a neighbor looking for a lost dog.

RCMP received a report of damage to the door at the Unity Aquatic Centre and items thrown over the fence. There are no suspects at this time.

An individual reported a set of lost keys. No similar keys have been turned into Unity Detachment.

Police received a complaint of uttering threats but it was unfounded.

Members received a report of individuals walking down back alleys in Unity. Members located the subjects of complaint and requested they leave the area. No further issues.

RCMP assisted an individual dealing with a person with Mental Health concerns.

Police received a complaint of disturbing the peace. Members attended and acted as mediators in an argument.

CN Police reported a railway crossing malfunction at Unity. Reported for information purposes.

There were also two false alarms, two traffic complaints and one false 911 call.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for August 15 to 28, 2017

RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision. There were no injuries and no charges were laid.

Police received a report of damage to Unity Public School. There are no suspects at this time.

Members received a complaint of indecent communications. There are no suspects at this time.

RCMP received a complaint of trespassing. Members patrolled but could not locate the individual.

There was a complaint of fraud. Information sent to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Police received a complaint of theft. This matter is still under investigation.

Members received a complaint of individuals damaging property at a residence but the complainant declined to lay charges.

RCMP received a Mental Health Act complaint. Members transported the subject of complaint to another residence to be in the care of a family member.

There was another Mental Health Act complaint. Reported for information purposes.

Police received a report of damage to property at an oil lease site. This matter is still under investigation.

A 43-year-old Unity female was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking after Members completed a conditions check.

An individual turned in a cellphone he found. The owner has not been located.

RCMP received a Mental Health Act complaint. Members spoke with the subject of complaint.

Members received a complaint of assault but the complainant declined to lay charges.

There was a complaint of theft. This matter is still under investigation.

An individual turned in a bike he found. The owner has not been located.

Police received a complaint of an unwanted individual at a residence. The individual had left the residence before police attended. Members located the subject of complaint and issued a verbal warning to stay away from the residence.

RCMP received a report of assault with a weapon. There are no suspects at this time.

Members attended a liquor establishment at the request of the owner to provide police presence during a busy evening.

A 43-year-old Unity female was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to comply with a probation order during a traffic stop.

Members acted as mediators in an argument between two adults.

Police received a report of a hit-and-run causing damage to a vehicle. Reported for insurance purposes.

There were also six false alarms and two traffic complaints.

RCMP assisted another RCMP Detachment in locating an individual.

There was a single vehicle collision with an antelope. There were no injuries.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle. Members could not locate a registered owner so the vehicle was towed.

An 18-year-old male from High River, Alberta, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after police received a complaint of an erratic driver.

Members received a request to remove an intoxicated individual from Suffern Lake Regional Park. The individual was transported to North Battleford cells until sober. No charges were laid.

There was also one traffic complaint and one false alarm.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for August 1 to 7, 2017

RCMP attended the sudden death of a 65-year-old male in Landis, Saskatchewan. The death was not suspicious in nature.

Police received a Mental Health Act complaint. Members transported the subject of complaint to Battlefords Union Hospital for assessment.

CN Police reported a grass fire near Senlac SK. Reported for information purposes. Members did not attend.

CN Police reported three railway crossing malfunctions this week. Reported for information purposes.

Members received a complaint of disturbing the peace but the complainant declined to lay charges.

RCMP received a complaint of assault but the complainant declined to lay charges.

Police attended a single vehicle rollover near Denzil, Sask. The vehicle driver was air lifted to Saskatoon Royal University Hospital by STARS Air Ambulance. This matter is still under investigation. Macklin Fire also attended the early morning scene south of Denzil August 6.

Members received a complaint of a male intoxicated in public. The subject of complaint was transported to North Battleford to remain in cells until sober. No charges were laid.

RCMP received a report of a vehicle collision with an owl. The complainant contacted Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management to euthanize the injured animal. Members did not attend.

Cardinals in provincial final but …

Leading 5-4 after two, the Cardinals had a hard time stopping the North East Red Sox over the next couple of innings in the 2017 Senior AA Tier 3 Provincial Championship final, held at Unity August 13.

The Astros put up three runs in the third and four in the fourth, and although the Cards were able to hold them in the fifth and sixth innings, the Astros were ahead 11-6 going into the seventh and final inning. The Cardinals faced a 12-6 score going into the bottom of the seventh and although they were able to put three runs up on the board, it was too little, too late, making the Astros the 2017 provincial champs.

Although they did not win the home-hosted tournament, the Cardinals did an excellent job of hosting, providing the Unity and area crowd with lots of entertaining baseball over the weekend. A booth and beer tent, with excellent seating for the semifinal and final, were also part of the weekend’s festivities.
