Cut Knife RCMP request assistance; Unity Reports for June 24 to 30

Cut Knife RCMP are seeking public assistance in the investigation of a break and enter incident that was reported on Wednesday, June 11th, 2014.   The Little Pine Days of Thunder Professional Chuckwagon event had just concluded.  A camper left behind for a few days was broken into while parked at the Little Pine First Nation horse track. The incident occurred between Sunday, June 8th and Wednesday June 11th.  Several saddles, horse tack and personal items were taken from the camper and the interior of the camper was vandalized.  No arrests have been made so far.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for June 24 to 30, 2014

Police attended the sudden death of a 55-year-old Unity male. The death was due to natural causes.

An adult bike was located in a resident’s back yard. The owner has not been located.

A railway crossing arm was broken when it was hit by a vehicle. The vehicle was gone on arrival and has not been located.

A child took a bike that was later returned to the owner. Members spoke to the child.

There was a report of broken locks at the Unity landfill where an individual dumped their garbage.

RCMP received two reports of a hit and run on a vehicle. There are no suspects for either hit and run.

Police received a dog complaint and spoke to the owner of the dog.

RCMP received a complaint of a break and entre at a rural residence. Old appliances and other miscellaneous items were stolen.

An elderly man was located walking on the road by Denzil. Police transported the disoriented male to Unity Hospital for assessment. Family members from Alberta came to assist the elderly man return to Edmonton.

There was a complaint of criminal harassment which was unfounded.

Police received a complaint of a stone thrown that damaged a window screen while an individual was cutting weeds. This is a civil matter.

RCMP received a report of children riding dirt bikes and quads north of the Town of Unity. Police would like to inform the public that riding ATVs in that area is prohibited.

There were also two false alarms, two traffic complaints and one false 911 calls.

RCMP seeking public’s assistance/Report for June 17 to 23

The Unity detachment of the RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance to identify suspects involved in the following matter.

Sometime between 8 p.m. June 15 and 4 p.m. June 22, a residence on Highway 14, near Wilkie, Saskatchewan was broken into and several kitchen appliances, as well as several smaller items were taken.

UNITY SK Reports for June 17 to 23, 2014

Unity RCMP are investigating a series of thefts from rural residences located near Highway 14 that occurred between June 16 and 17. Two trucks, one SUV, three quads, one dirt bike, a generator, tools, a firearm and moose antlers were stolen as well as other miscellaneous items that were inside vehicles and rural buildings. There were also two incidents of theft of fuel that police believe to be related to this chain of events. One truck was located burned near Battleford. The SUV was also located abandoned in a field.

A member spoke to two individuals regarding the Family Relations Act.

CN Police reported damage to a crossing arm on two occasions. In both incidents, the arm was believed to be hit by a vehicle.

RCMP spoke to an individual after receiving noise complaint.

Police attended a fight between two family members. No charges were laid.

There was a report of an individual defecating on a residence lawn.

RCMP received a report of a suspicious male walking in town. The male was not located.

A gold BMX bike was reported stolen from Unity Composite High School. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of harassing phone calls. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a noise complaint in Landis.

RCMP attended a single vehicle collision by Salvador. There were no injuries.

A vehicle hit the door at the Country Car & Truck Wash. Police located the individual responsible for the damage.

Police received a report of a break and enter at a residence. Nothing was stolen.

RCMP attended a domestic assault and charged a 47-year-old female from Unity with assault.

There was one false alarm, one false 911 call, one traffic complaint and one collision with a deer.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for June 10 to 16, 2014

A 21-year-old Unity female was charged with uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after RCMP received a complaint of uttering threats.

Police received a complaint of fraud but it was unfounded.

CN Police reported a malfunction with the railway crossing arms.

RCMP received a complaint of locks being changed at a residence without the owner’s knowledge.

Police received a report of a vehicle damaged as someone was throwing items in an alley. This matter is still under investigation.

Members noticed a broken window at J & E Convenience Store. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a complaint of a male damaging a vehicle. This matter is still under investigation.

Police attended an assault in the co-op parking lot. A 42-year-old male and a 33-year-old female, both from Unity, were charged with assault.

RCMP are investigating the theft of a vehicle from a rural residence that was located stuck in a field. There has recently been an increase in vehicle thefts in rural areas. The RCMP would like to remind everyone to remove their keys from their vehicles, remove valuables and park vehicles  in well lit areas.

There were two false 911 calls, one traffic complaint and one false alarm.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for June 3 to 9, 2014

RCMP received two complaints of uttering threats. One was unfounded.

A 1976 International bus was damaged at the museum. Police are requesting the public’s assistance, asking anyone who has any information regarding this to please contact Unity RCMP.

There was a report of a semi that collided with a moose. The semi driver did not sustain any injuries.

RCMP received a complaint of mischief in the form of covering a vehicle with mud. No charges were laid as the perpetrator agreed to pay for cleaning and any damage to the vehicle.

Two males were fighting on Main Street. No charges were laid as they left the area when asked by members.

Police received a report of a stolen truck. The truck was located in a rural area by Tramping Lake and was used to damage two grain bags. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue in Unity. One vehicle driver sustained minor injuries and was issued a traffic ticket.

RCMP advised an individual to seek legal counsel when the individual inquired about child custody issues.

A 24-hour suspension was issued during a traffic stop when police observed the vehicle leaving a drinking establishment.

There was a report of a suspicious male looking in back yards. RCMP searched for the male but could not locate him.

There were two false 911 calls.

RCMP received a report of several bushels of peas dropped on the road by Salvador.

Police received a complaint of uttering threats.

There were two reports of an individual walking and laying down on Highway 21 by Unity. Members patrolled but could not locate the person.

A dirt bike was reported driving dangerously in Unity.

A 20-year-old Unity male was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and was remanded in custody to appear before a Provincial Court Judge in North Battleford on June 2.

A 59-year-old Unity male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle during a traffic stop.

A 40-year-old Saskatoon male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driver.

Police transported a female to a women’s shelter.

RCMP attended a complaint of assault between four individuals at the rodeo grounds.

There was a report of underage drinking at Suffern Lake.

Police attended a residence to keep the peace as an individual retrieved his personal property.

There were two traffic complaints, one false alarm and one false 911 call.

There was a stubble fire in a field east of Salvador.

RCMP received a report of a male in a white truck offering candy to a female child as she was walking home from school. This matter is still under investigation.

Police attended a vehicle fire north on Phippen Road. The fire was not suspicious in nature.

A member assisted an individual who was walking on the highway.

RCMP are investigating damage inflicted on a vehicle in Unity.

Police received a report of criminal harassment.

Police were called to a domestic dispute but one of the individuals had left the residence when members arrived.

Members arrested a male for public drunkenness and housed him in North Battleford cells until sober.

There were two traffic complaints, one report of a lost wallet and one false alarm.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS

Police are investigating a complaint of uttering threats.

There was a vehicle rollover on Tako Road. Two of the five passengers sustained minor injuries. Poor road conditions were a contributing factor to the rollover. No charges were laid.

RCMP received a report of a missing youth. The youth was later located by his father.

Police attended an assault between two intoxicated males in Unity. A 29-year-old Medicine Hat man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.

A traffic ticket was issued to the driver of a semi that rolled east of Unity as speed was determined to be a factor in the rollover. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

A 20-year-old Saskatoon man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle when police initiated a traffic stop as he was leaving a drinking establishment.

RCMP received a complaint that a sunroom lining was cut.

Police are investigating a fraudulent bank transaction that occurred through online banking.

A member mediated an argument between two neighbours in Landis.

A yellow bike was located in a resident’s yard in Unity but was later removed.

A white and black bike was found by Sperle’s Tire & Battery.

RCMP attended a house fire in Unity. The resident received burns to his arms, hands and face.

Adrien Dillabough of Unity, age 19, was charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking when police initiated a curfew check after a vehicle was found abandoned with liquor inside in the town of Unity.

RCMP received a report of a vehicle colliding with a sign in front of the Bargain Shop. The vehicle driver agreed to pay for damages.

Police received a complaint of a male threatening suicide.

A vehicle was impounded following a traffic stop where police discovered the vehicle driver had a suspended licence. The driver received a warning and a traffic ticket.

There was a report of a theft of a bedroom suite from a residence. This matter is still under investigation.

There was one noise complaint and one false 911 call.

NOTE: Cut Knife RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in solving an oil field theft of eight Weatherford hydraulic skids that are valued at approximately $4,000. The skids were stored on a farmer’s field near Baldwinton, Saskatchewan and theft occurred on or between November 2013 and April 2014. The hydraulic skids would only be useful in the oil patch and a picker truck or trailer with picker would have been utilized to move the skids. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cut Knife RCMP detachment at 306-398-3500 or Saskatchewan CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS

RCMP received a report of an intoxicated female walking on the highway by Wilkie, Saskatchewan.

Police attended a truck fire on Highway 29 north of Wilkie. The vehicle had been reported stolen. North Battleford RCMP detachment is investigating.

There was a complaint of public mischief. This matter is still under investigation.

Members acted as mediators in an argument about material possessions between ex-spouses. This was deemed a civil matter.

Police received a report of four suspicious males attending a rural residence.

There was one false 911 call and one false alarm.

Unity/Wilkie/Macklin RCMP members, along with the North Battleford Police Dog Services, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on a residence in the Brentwood Trailer Park in Unity, the early morning hours of May 8.

As a result of this search, three Unity residents, a 41-year-old female, a 35-year-old male and a 22-year-old male, are facing various drug possession charges, including possession of methamphetamine (crystal meth), possession of cannabis marihuana and possession of cocaine. The 22-year-old is also charged with possession of a prohibited firearm. The three Unity residents were released on conditions and are to appear in provincial court in Unity June 16.

Unity RCMP detachment hosted a training exercise for members of the North/Central District RCMP Containment team in Unity May 12.

training exerciseUnity was selected on this occasion as members from the local detachment are part of this team. This training scenario selected for this exercise was that of a hostage-taking. The training exercise involved the deployment and tactical operations of containment team members to result in the successful resolution of the event.

The Unity RCMP would like to apologize to any residents of the community who were alarmed by this training exercise. The purpose of the training is to ensure the policing services provided by the local RCMP detachment is maintained at the highest standard.

UNITY SK REPORTS, April 29 to May 5, 2014

Police received a complaint of fraud by email.

Members assisted other RCMP detachments and police services by serving two subpoenas to individuals in the area and taking fingerprints of an individual.

RCMP attended several grass fires in the Unity area that were believed to be started by trains.

There was a report of an abandoned vehicle east of Unity. The registered owner was located and asked to have it towed.

Police received a report of two sheds burning down at a rural residence. The cause of the fire is undetermined.

RCMP are investigating the report of a male fraudulently offering the sale of trees to rural residents.

Police attended a collision between a semi and a train by Landis. The driver of the semi had no injuries and was charged with failing to obey a stop signal at a railway crossing. See the May 12 issue of the Unity Wilke Press-Herald for photos and additional details.

RCMP are investigating a report of an individual failing to comply with his undertaking conditions.

Police issued a liquor ticket to a 23-year-old Unity male after he was causing a disturbance in public and fled from the scene on foot.

There was a report of threatening text messages. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP are investigating a fire that was set on the road in front of a residence in Unity.

There was also one traffic complaint and one false alarm.

Jason Lee Morgan, wanted for fraudUnity RCMP arrested Jason Lee Morgan, age 38 of the Kerrobert District, after he was caught by some Unity area residents who accused him of defrauding them by taking money to plant trees and not doing so. The Unity area residents used farm implements to prevent MORGAN from leaving their yard and called the RCMP. Morgan was wanted by the RCMP in Kerrobert for fraud under $5,000 and had warrants for his arrest from Watrous RCMP for break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, and obtaining food and lodgings fraudulently. Morgan is also facing criminal charges in Alberta. Unity RCMP are investigating Morgan’s business dealings in and around the Unity area and encourage anyone who may have provided him with money to contact the RCMP and provide details of the dealings to them.
