UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for August 25 to 31, 2015

RCMP received a complaint of theft from an oil well site. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a complaint of fraud. Information was sent to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Members assisted an individual with concerns about a family member’s ability to drive safely.

Police received a report of a hit and run that caused damage to a vehicle. This matter is still under investigation.

A 44-year-old Unity male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle during a traffic stop. Members also executed warrants for his arrest on separate charges.

There were also three false alarms, one false 911 call and one traffic complaint.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for August 11 to 24, 2015

RCMP received a complaint of three individuals causing damage to Unity Golf Course property. The complainant agreed not to lay charges as the subjects of complaint paid for the damages.

There was a grass fire near Unity. It was extinguished by the Unity Fire Department.

Members acted as a mediator between two individuals in a disagreement about child custody.

Police received a complaint of stolen golf clubs and range finder at Unity Golf Course. There are no suspects at this time.

RCMP received a report of harassing communications but it was unfounded.

There was a complaint of breach of recognizance but the complainant cancelled the request for police assistance.

Police received a complaint of an attempted break and enter at a residence. The subject of complaint was gone on arrival and members could not locate a suspect during patrols of the neighbourhood.

Members attended a business that was left open with no employees present. The owner was notified. Nothing was stolen.

Two sets of golf clubs were stolen from a shed at the Unity Golf Course. There are no suspects at this time.

There was a complaint of fraud. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a report of a vehicle driving over a rock causing damage to the vehicle. Reported for insurance purposes.

Police received a complaint of six individuals trespassing on CN property in Scott, Saskatchewan. Members attended but the subjects of complaint were gone on arrival.

CN Police advised RCMP that there was a complaint of loose railway ties at the railway crossing on Highway 14 at Unity. No police action necessary.

There was a report of the theft of a bicycle. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a complaint of the theft of fuel from a local gas station. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a complaint of an individual breaking a residence basement window in the early hours of the morning. This matter is still under investigation.

Members assisted an individual who needed a vehicle towed.

Police assisted an individual with concerns about a child.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for August 4 to 10, 2015

RCMP attended a single vehicle collision on Highway 374. No injuries. Vehicle was towed. Reported for insurance purposes.

Member assisted Calgary Police Services with a next-of-kin notification; however, the individual was no longer living in the Unity area.

Police received a report of an individual with access to a firearm that may be a safety issue.  Members removed the firearm from the possession of the subject of complaint.

There was a recreational vehicle fire on Highway 21 south of Unity, SK. No injuries.

RCMP received a report of a hit and run that caused damage to a vehicle. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a complaint of uttering threats. It was investigated and determined to be unfounded.

Members received a report of an individual writing cheques from a bank account that is closed. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a report of damage at Holy Rosary Shrine near Reward, Saskatchewan, but it was unfounded.

Police received a report of a break and enter at a rural residence. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a complaint of uttering threats. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a complaint of sexual assault. This matter is still under investigation.

Members received a report of a single vehicle collision with a deer near Denzil, Sask. No injuries. Reported for insurance purposes.

An abandoned vehicle was towed from Highway 14 west of Unity.

Police received a complaint of an individual trespassing in a residence yard. This matter is still under investigation.

UNITY SK REPORTS for July 28 to August 3, 2015

RCMP received a report of two males in a residence backyard. Members attended but could not locate the two subjects.

Member assisted an individual with a concerning text message. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a complaint of criminal harassment. Members issued a verbal warning to the subject of complaint.

There was a complaint of uttering threats but the complainant declined to lay charges.

A female was arrested for assault with a weapon and lodged in cells until sober. The complainant declined to lay charges.

RCMP received a complaint of an individual using farm equipment without the owner’s permission. This was determined to be a civil matter.

There was a report of a suspicious vehicle. Member located the vehicle owner and noted the vehicle was legally parked on the street. No charges were laid.

CN Police reported a malfunction with the railway crossing arms at Unity, Saskatchewan.

There was a minor traffic collision between two vehicles in Unity. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of the sudden death of an 86-year-old Unity female. The death is not suspicious in nature.

RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision with a moose on Highway 21 north of Unity, SK. Both vehicle occupants sustained minor injuries. No charges were laid.

There were two grass fires on Highway 14 west of Unity. Unity Fire Department extinguished both fires.

Members attended a single vehicle rollover near Denzil, Sask. Three vehicle occupants sustained minor injuries. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of cows on the highway east of Unity. The owner had already moved the cows by the time members could respond to the call.

RCMP assisted an individual with a suspicious post on Facebook but members were unable to locate subject of complaint.

Police received a complaint of a male stalking a female but the complainant declined to lay charges.

There was also one traffic complaint.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for July 21 to 27, 2015

RCMP received a report of a grass fire near Unity SK on Highway 14. Unity Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Police received a complaint of individuals starting a small fire in a back alley behind a residence. Members patrolled but could not locate any suspects.

Members executed a warrant for Estevan Police Service during a traffic stop.

RCMP received a report of a male lying on Highway 14 west of Unity. Members located the individual and transported him to Unity Hospital for assessment. He was later transported to North Battleford Hospital by members at the request of the physician.

There was a complaint of a barking dog. The owner was warned to keep the dog inside the residence to prevent further complaints.

Police received a complaint of harassing text messages. This matter is still under investigation.

CN Police reported a crossing arm malfunction near Senlac. Reported for information purposes.

There was a complaint of quads driving dangerously at Suffern Lake, Saskatchewan. Member unable to attend due to attending a high priority call. No further issues.

There was also one false 911 call.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for July 14 to 20

RCMP received a complaint of assault but the complainant declined to lay charges.

Police received a report from a concerned citizen who believed an individual was going to breach a peace bond. Members spoke to the subject of complaint who understood the implications of breaching the peace bond. Reported for information purposes.

There was a complaint regarding the by-law officer having access to vehicle registration records.  Members explained to the complainant that the by-law officer does legitimately have access to this information as part of the town by-law program.

A concerned family member was inquiring if an individual had been detained by police overnight as the family was unable to locate him. The family did not want to report the individual as missing. Unity RCMP detachment made adjacent detachments aware of the situation.

RCMP received a complaint of fraud through mail. The letter was legitimate and was returned to the owner.

There was a single vehicle collision with a deer. There were no injuries.

Police received a complaint of an individual jumping over the train tracks with a bicycle while the crossing arms were activated for an oncoming train. Members patrolled but could not locate the subject of complaint.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for June 30 to July 13, 2015

A 19-year-old female from Ahtahkakoop First Nation was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking after officers located drug paraphernalia in her vehicle during a traffic stop.  Members also executed a warrant for her arrest for Shellbrook Detachment.

RCMP received a report of break and enter at the Unity & District Regional Park Golf Course. Thieves broke into two large storage shed structures at the golf course that each contained multiple individual cart and club storage units. Once inside the buildings, the thieves went through the individual storage units and stole a large amount of brand-name golf equipment.  This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a request to locate an individual. The individual was located by police at his residence.

There was a report of an individual walking with a shopping cart north of Unity SK on Highway 21. Members located the individual who stated his ride left without him. Members arranged for transportation to his home community of Littlepine First Nation.

A 36-year-old male from Dundurn, Saskatchewan, was charged with fraud under $5,000 and theft under $5,000 when RCMP received a complaint that he had written fraudulent cheques.

There was a report of a railway crossing malfunction in Unity, and also near Senlac in the last two weeks.

RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision with deer. The collision was non-reportable so no police action was necessary.

Police received a report of eggs and bath salts thrown at the Unity pool. Members will increase patrols in this area.

There was a complaint of fraud through mail. No personal information was given. Members sent the information to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

RCMP received a complaint of harassing phone calls to a residence saying that the resident had won a significant amount of money and requesting personal information. No information was given. Police advised resident on how to block the phone number using SaskTel. Residents are urged not to respond to this type of phone call.

Police received a report of a lottery scheme. Members contacted the subject of complaint and explained that they needed to apply for a lottery licence to sell raffle tickets. No charges were laid.

There was a complaint of youth being unlawfully in a residence. The youth apologized to the owners of the residence. No charges were laid.

Police received a report of a small grass fire near the NorthWest Terminal on Highway 14. Unity fire department extinguished the fire before members arrived.

RCMP received a report of an employer having problems with an ex-employee. This matter was reported for information purposes.

There was a report of a suspicious male at a residence. Members located the individual and spoke to the property owner who stated the male had permission to be on the premises.

Members received a report of trespassing near Adanac. Members patrolled the area but could not locate the vehicle.

Police received a complaint of an aggressive dog running loose through Unity. This matter was referred to the bylaw officer.

RCMP received a complaint of an individual selling drugs near the Sunrise Hotel. Members located the suspect who consented to a vehicle search. No drugs were located.

Members received a complaint of harassing phone calls in Denzil but it was unfounded.

RCMP received a report of a small silver car with a male driver asking a female child to get into his vehicle. The girl ran to a nearby workplace. Members patrolled Unity but could not locate the suspect vehicle.

There was a Mental Health Act complaint. Members located the subject of complaint and transported him to Unity hospital for assessment.

Police received a report of a hit and run causing damage to a vehicle in the Unity Delta Co-op parking lot. Members issued a media release. This matter is still under investigation.

A 41-year-old Calgary male was charged with theft under $5,000 when members received a complaint that he did not comply with a payment agreement with another individual.

RCMP received a complaint of theft of an electronic device. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was registered and parked legally.

CN Police reported a malfunction with the railway crossing arms twice during the week.

Police received a complaint of garbage thrown on a rural property north of Unity, SK. The subject of complaint returned to the property to clean up the garbage. No charges were laid.

A licence plate was missing from a vehicle but was later located on another vehicle. The second vehicle’s licence plate was then reported missing.

There was a report of a hit and run that caused damage to a vehicle. Reported for insurance purposes.

RCMP received a complaint of theft of fuel at a Unity gas station. The subject of complaint was located and returned to pay for the fuel. No charges were laid.

A medical review was completed for an individual during a traffic stop as the member was concerned about the individual’s driving capability.

Members acted as mediators between two rural neighbours regarding loose livestock.

Police received a complaint of a generator and a jerry can of fuel stolen from a locked trailer in a rural area south of Unity. The generator is described as a new Champion Generator with camouflage colorings. The matter is still under investigation.

RCMP charged a 28-year-old Marwayne female with failing to comply with a probation order when she blew a warning while providing a breath sample during a traffic stop. She also received a 72 hour driving suspension.

There was a fire west of Unity. Unity fire department extinguished the fire.

RCMP received a report of a horse that got out of the corral near Denzil, Saskatchewan. The horse was later located by the owners.

Police received a complaint of disturbing the peace. Members warned subject of complaint.

There was a dog complaint. Members spoke to the owner of the dog who agreed to keep the dog indoors.

Members were informed of an individual removing their belongings from a residence, and they wished police to be aware in case there were issues with the homeowner.

RCMP received a complaint of an suspicious/abandoned vehicle in a parking lot. Members located the owner who agreed to move it.

Police received a complaint of assault. Members spoke to the subject of complaint but the complainant declined to lay charges.

There was a Mental Health Act complaint. Members located the subject of complaint who agreed to stay with a friend.

An individual contacted police to request an explanation of the noise bylaw.

Members acted as a mediator in a disagreement between neighbours.

RCMP looking for “person of interest”

After a hit-and-run in the parking lot at the Delta Co-op grocery store in Unity SK, July 9 at about 6:20 pm, police are looking for information.

Surveillance video has identified a person of interest and Unity RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the person shown below.
