Cardinals advance to NSRBL semifinals

Battling through their first round playoff games against the North Battleford Beavers to win win two games out of three, the Unity Cardinals men’s team will now face the Border City Blue Jays in a North Saskatchewan River Baseball League semifinal.

Games are:

Monday, July 23 in Lloyd

Thursday, July 26 in Unity

Tuesday, July 31 in Lloyd.

RCMP Report for June 19 to 25

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for June 19 to 25, 2018

RCMP received a complaint of a hit-and-run causing damage to a vehicle. Reported for insurance purposes.

Members received a report of a cow on the highway by Denzil, Saskatchewan. The cow had left the roadway. There were no further complaints.

Police received a report of a break-and-enter into a residence in Denzil. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a complaint of theft of fuel from a local gas station. Members located the subject of complaint who returned to pay for the fuel. No charges were laid.

Members are investigating a complaint of fraud.

Police received a report of uttering threats. This matter is still under investigation.

A 58-year-old male was charged with theft under $5000 – shoplifting, after police received a complaint of theft from a local business.

RCMP received a Mental Health Act complaint. Members spoke with the subject of complaint and complainant.

Members received two noise complaints from the same residence. The information was referred to the bylaw officer.

Police received a complaint of impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Members patrolled but could not located the vehicle.

Members spoke to an individual regarding a child welfare concern.

RCMP received a complaint of uttering threats but it was unfounded.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace. Members patrolled but could not locate the subject of complaint.

Members received a request to speak to an individual regarding the inappropriate touching of another person. The complainant declined to lay charges.

RCMP received a Mental Health Act complaint. Members attended and spoke with the complainant and the subject of complaint.

Police received a complaint of theft from a rural area near Unity. There are no suspects at this time.

UCHS Class of 2018 – Special Awards

Unity Composite High School held their formal cap and gown graduation exercises at the school Friday, June 29. Thousands of dollars were awarded to local graduating students from local organizations, families and businesses to help the students on their way to post-secondary education, careers and adult life.

Along with the many scholarships and bursaries awarded, four special awards were handed out.

Adam Baker was presented with the Honour Cord by Principal Ken Parker. Adam had the highest overall average in Grade 12 and delivered the valedictory address after receiving the Honour Cord.

The Governor General’s Medal is referred to as the highest honour given at the high school level. Cyane Sperle was awarded the medal for having the highest overall average in Grades 11 and 12 combined. Principal Ken Parker presented Cyane with a certificate and the medal.

RCMP received a complaint of individuals trespassing in a rural yard. Members located the subjects of complaint and issued a verbal warning.

Police received a complaint of fraud. Members spoke to subject of complaint who returned the money. Complainant declined to lay charges.

There was a complaint of a break-and-enter into a residence. Members located the subject of complaint. Complainant declined to lay charges.

Members received a complaint of harassing communications but it was unfounded.

RCMP received a request to assist an organization by checking a building that had been relinquished to the organization.

Police received a bylaw complaint but the complainant declined to lay charges.

Members acted as mediators between a landlord and a tenant.

RCMP received a complaint of assault in Denzil, Saskatchewan. This matter is still under investigation.

There was also one false alarm, one traffic complaint and two false 911 calls.

RCMP received a complaint of theft of fuel and tools from a rural farmyard near Unity, Saskatchewan. This matter is still under investigation.

Members assisted Saskatoon Police Services in attempting to locate an individual. The individual was no longer in the Unity area.

Members acted as mediators in an dispute between two individuals.

Police received a report of an abandoned trailer in Unity. The property owner was advised they could have it towed from their property if they wished.

RCMP received a report of impaired operation of a motor vehicle but it was unfounded.

Police received another report of impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Members patrolled but could not locate the vehicle.

A 67-year-old male from Unity was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle during a traffic stop. The vehicle driver was also issued a traffic ticket.

RCMP received reports of several power poles blown over between Scott and Tramping Lake during a storm. Members advised SaskPower.

RCMP received a complaint of a stolen generator. The generator was later recovered by Cut Knife RCMP who charged a 34-year-old female from Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, with possession of property obtained by crime.

Police received a report of a hit-and-run causing damage to a vehicle. Reported for insurance purposes.

Members are investigating a complaint of sexual assault.

A youth was charged with uttering threats and fail to comply after RCMP received a complaint of uttering threats.

Police are investigating a report of a stolen auger motor.

RCMP received a report of a railway spike protruding from a railway crossing near Scott, Sask. Members reported the hazard to CN Railway Maintenance.

RCMP received a complaint of mail scattered around the Unity Post Office floor as well as other garbage. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a Mental Health Act complaint. Members located the subject of complaint and transported the individual to Battlefords Union Hospital for assessment.

There was a complaint of a suspicious person at a residence. Members attended but could not locate the subject of complaint.

Members received a report of youth hanging around St. Peter’s School late at night. Members patrolled but the individuals had all left the area.

There was also one false 911 call.
