RCMP Report for September 4 to 10

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for September 4 to 10, 2018

RCMP received a complaint of an individual vandalizing a vehicle. There are no suspects in the matter.

Police received a complaint of harassment. This matter is still under investigation.

Members received a report of an abandoned semi near Senlac, Saskatchewan. The vehicle had been stolen from Camrose, Alberta, then recovered and re-stolen from Lloydminster the previous day.  The matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a complaint of theft. This matter is still under investigation.

A 56-year-old male from Meadow Lake, Sask., was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle during a traffic stop.

Police received a complaint of an intoxicated individual in a local liquor establishment. A 49-year-old Unity male was charged with failing to comply with a probation order as he was on conditions not to possess or consume alcohol/ enter liquor establishments.

CN Police reported a railway crossing malfunction in Unity. Reported for information purposes.

Members received a report of a vehicle collision with a deer. There were no injuries. Reported for insurance purposes.

RCMP received a report of an abandoned trailer. Members attempted to contact the registered owner to have it moved but could not reach her. Members updated the complainant. No police action required.

Police received a complaint of a grass fire by the train tracks near Scott, Saskatchewan. Unity Fire Department extinguished the fire. Members did not attend.

Members are investigating a break-and-enter into a residence in Unity.

There were also two traffic complaints.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for August 28 to September 3, 2018

CN Police reported a non-functioning railway crossing light in Unity, Saskatchewan. Reported for information purposes.

An individual located a fire extinguisher in a back alley and turned it into RCMP.

RCMP received a complaint of theft from a rural yard near Unity. This matter is still under investigation.

Members assisted Winnipeg Police Services in locating an individual. The individual is no longer in the Unity area.

Police received a complaint of a hit-and-run causing damage to a vehicle. Reported for insurance purposes.

RCMP received a complaint of assault but the complainant declined to lay charges.

There was a report of a vehicle collision with a deer. There were no injuries.

Members acted as mediators between a landlord and tenant.

Police spoke to CN Rail regarding a report of train cars left on a rural portion of the train track. CN Rail was aware and were working to correct the issue.

Members acted as mediators in a family dispute.

RCMP received a complaint of theft. There are no suspects at this time.

Members are investigating a report of damage to a vehicle.

There was also one false alarm.

Unity Credit Union makes multiple donations

Unity Credit Union hosted a free barbecue for members and community residents Wednesday, September 5, to showcase donations of $20,000  – $10,000 to the Unity Healthcare Auxiliary for patients lifts at Unity long term care and $10,000 to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. A further $466.50 was donated on site to the children’s hospital by those attending the barbecue.

In addition to the two health care donations featured Sept. 5, Unity Credit Union has also recently donated funds to the Saskatchewan Hospital, to the Richardson Outdoor Recreation Park and to Parkview Place for their generator fund.

Sept. 5 was a beautiful sunny day and over 200 turned out to enjoy the barbecue. For a full report and additional photos, please see the September 14th issue of the Unity Wilkie Press-Herald.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for August 21 to 27

CN Police reported a train blocking a railway crossing near Scott, Saskatchewan. Reported for information purposes.

RCMP are investigating a report of vandalism to a vehicle.

Police received two reports of youth knocking on residence doors and running away. These matters are still under investigation.

Members received a report of theft of fuel from a local gas station. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a complaint of disturbing the peace. Members patrolled but could not locate the subject of complaint.

CN Police reported a railway crossing malfunction near Winter, Sask. Reported for information purposes.

Members received a report of failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking but it was unfounded.

RCMP issued a 72-hour roadside suspension and a liquor ticket to a vehicle driver during a traffic stop.

Police are investigating a report of a smashed vehicle window.

Unity RCMP Members were notified of a vehicle stolen from Kitscoty, Alberta, that had entered the Unity Detachment area. The vehicle was located stuck in the ditch near the Sifto (Compass Minerals) salt plant.  The suspect was arrested by members after he attempted to flee from police.  A 26-year-old male from Island Lake, AB was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, attempt to commit an offence, driving while disqualified and two counts of mischief. He was remanded until his court appearance.

CN Police reported two individuals walking on the railway tracks. Members were dealing with a high priority call and were not able to attend.

RCMP received a complaint of assault. The complainant declined to lay charges.

RCMP received a complaint of theft. This matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of youth on the Unity Arena roof. Members located the subjects of complaint and issued a verbal warning.

A 49-year-old male from Unity was charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent of the owner and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order after an individual complained her vehicle had been taken by a male who was intoxicated. The vehicle was located by Biggar RCMP and the subject of complaint was also charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by Biggar Detachment.

RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in a rural area near Unity. Members patrolled but could not locate the vehicle.

Members are investigating a complaint of a stolen bicycle.

Members spoke to an individual regarding an animal complaint.

A 60-day roadside suspension was issued to a vehicle driver during a traffic stop. A traffic ticket was also issued to the vehicle driver.

RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in a rural area near Salvador, Sask. The vehicle was gone on arrival.
