UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for January 5 to 11, 2016

RCMP received a child welfare complaint. This matter is still under investigation.

Police responded to a complaint of disturbing the peace. A verbal warning was given to the subject of complaint.

There was a report of harassing communications but the complainant declined to lay charges.

A Member assisted a stranded traveller who had run out of fuel on Highway 14.

RCMP received a complaint of fraud. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a complaint of a suspicious vehicle driving in an abandoned farm yard. Members patrolled but the vehicle was gone on arrival.

2016 has well begun when we’re looking at the last Unity Wilkie Press-Herald for January already! Check it out for:

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for December 22, 2015, to January 4, 2016

RCMP received a report of three horses running loose on Highway 14 east of Unity, Saskatchewn. Members patrolled but could not locate the horses.

There was a request to assist Prince Albert Parole in monitoring release conditions of an individual in the detachment area.

Members received a request from Public Prosecutions to serve a subpoena to an individual in the detachment area. Members discovered the individual had moved to another community so they could not serve the subpoena.

Police received a complaint of theft. This matter is still under investigation.

CN Police reported a railway crossing malfunction near Scott, SK.

RCMP received a complaint of theft of hay bales but the complaint was unfounded.

Members received a report of a suspicious vehicle near the train track in Unity. Members located the vehicle and discovered the vehicle occupants were taking pictures of birds.

There was a single vehicle collision with a moose on a rural road near Unity. There were no injuries.

Police received a complaint of intoxicated individuals asking where they could purchase drugs in Tramping Lake, SK. Members located the subjects of complaint and warned them about their actions.  No charges were laid.

Members charged a 23-year-old male from North Battleford with consuming alcohol in a public place and also executed several warrants for his arrest that were issued out of Unity, Maidstone and Regina.

There were also four traffic complaints, one false 911 call and five false alarms.

Reminder and request from Unity RCMP

The Unity/ Wilkie/ Macklin RCMP would like to again remind the public to remove their keys from their vehicles so the young offenders that have been coming into our community to steal vehicles are not successful and are less likely to return to try and steal other vehicles and commit more offences in our community.

Also, the Unity/Wilkie/Macklin RCMP are seeking assistance from the public in solving a theft from a building that occurred near Macklin, Saskatchewan. During the morning of December 23, 2015,, two sheds broken into. Among the stolen items, were some Gerry cans full of gasoline, and approximately $500 worth of scrap wire. The vehicle being used was described as a mid 1990s Ford F-150, extended cab, green in colour.

RCMP received a complaint of theft of fuel from a local gas station. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a complaint of creditor phone calls to a phone number. The calls were directed toward the previous phone number owner.  No police action required.

Police received a complaint of fraud. Information sent to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Members received a complaint of the theft of a truck tailgate. This matter is still under investigation.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for December 8 to 14, 2015

RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 31 near Denzil, Sask. There were no injuries.

Police received a complaint of fraud. This matter is still under investigation.

Members assisted Provost RCMP with a highway roadblock that was later cancelled as no crime was committed.

There was a report of a lost wallet. The wallet has not yet been located.

RCMP received a report of suspicious vehicles in a farmyard near Tramping Lake, SK. Members patrolled but the vehicle was gone on arrival.

Members received a report of a child welfare concern. The information was referred to Child and Family Services.

There was a complaint of a hit and run in Unity causing damage to a vehicle. The subject of complaint later reported the incident to police and was issued a traffic ticket.

RCMP are investigating the theft of two trucks in the Senlac area. One of the trucks was located damaged with a quad of unknown origin in the back on Highway 14 near Unity.  A second vehicle stolen from the Marsden district was located burning near the intersection of Highway 14 and No. 675 grid.  The remaining Unity area stolen truck was located later that morning by the Unity RCMP on the Red Pheasant Cree Nation.  The investigation is continuing into these and other thefts, and the RCMP are reminding the community that the best deterrent to stopping auto thefts is for owners to take their keys out of their vehicles.  The stolen vehicles all had the keys left inside.

There was also one traffic complaint.

UNITY SK RCMP REPORTS for December 1 to 7, 2015

RCMP received a report of a lost wallet. Complainant later contacted police to inform them that an individual had located her wallet and returned it to her.

There were five complaints of fraud by phone. No personal information was given.  Information was sent to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Police received a report of drug trafficking. This matter is still under investigation.

Members received a Mental Health Act complaint. The complainant located the subject of complaint who was fine.  No police action necessary.

RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter into an abandoned property near the Town of Unity. This matter is still under investigation.

There was a report of a vehicle collision with a deer. There were no injuries.

Members attended a two-vehicle collision on Highway 14 east of Unity. The driver of one vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to Unity Hospital for assessment.  This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP are investigating a possible abuse issue for Child and Family Services.

There were also four false alarms, two false 911 calls and one traffic complaint.

UNITY  SK RCMP REPORTS for November 24 to 30, 2015

An 18 year old male from Kerrobert, Sask.,  was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and Impaired operation of a motor Vehicle during a traffic stop near Unity.

RCMP received a complaint of trespassing but it was unfounded.

Police received a report of the theft of copper wire from an oil well site near Winter, SK. There are no suspects at this time.

There was a complaint of a deer that had been hit by a semi. The deer was deceased and located in the ditch.  No police action necessary.

Members acted as mediators in a family disagreement.

An individual requested advice in resolving a dispute with a family member.

There was a complaint of garbage left at a gravel site in the RM of Grass Lake. The RM will contact the individual responsible and will contact police if further action is needed.

RCMP received a report of missing cattle from fields near Winter. This matter was reported for information purposes.

Police received a complaint of fraud. Information was sent to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Members received a complaint of theft of fuel from a local gas station. Police discovered the identity of the driver but could not locate her during patrols.  A warrant for her arrest was issued by Unity RCMP.

A 21-year-old male from Kamloops, British Columbia, and a 20-year-old male from Edmonton, Alberta, were charged with possession of cannabis resin and possession of cannabis marijuana during a traffic stop. A speeding ticket was also issued to the vehicle driver.
